About Us

Learn and Ride with Our Horse Club

The Compton Jr. Equestrians organization continues a 30-year legacy of serving inner-city youth in Compton. Founded by Randall Hook and Jamie Vance—both Compton natives and products of equestrian-based programming—CJE is the nonprofit extension of the Compton Cowboys.

Our motto, “Streets raised us, horses saved us,” inspires everything we do. Through safe, empowering, and growth-centered equestrian experiences, we help youth build confidence, leadership, and life skills that extend far beyond the ranch.

Our programs focus on three key areas: developing skilled riders who care for rescued horses, teaching ranch maintenance and organic gardening, and fostering wellness and personal growth through mentorship and community support.
