The Compton Junior Equestrians (CJE) are excited to present our Summer Camp Program. Summer camp programming leverages our cowboys, program staff, horses and ranch to provide a unique and transformative eight-week summer day camp experience.
The program is conducted at the Compton Cowboys Ranch, located at 463 West Caldwell St in the Richland Farms community of Compton, CA.
This program offers students a unique summer school experience through a deep dive into CJE’s Equestrian Summer Camps Near You. Students explore an urban ranch while engaging in the CJE Basic Equine Program, learning about ranch operations, farming equipment, horse care, and horseback riding. The camp also covers equine science, gardening, self-wellness, and personal development, from organic gardening to career planning. Participants gain hands-on experience and walk away with a deeper appreciation for sustainable ranching in an urban environment, along with valuable skills in horse care and personal growth.
In addition to hands-on experience with horses and ranch operations, students will gain valuable life skills through the CJE Summer Camp. The program fosters teamwork, responsibility, and leadership as students collaborate on daily tasks and projects. They’ll also explore the importance of environmental sustainability through organic gardening and ranch management, providing a unique blend of practical and personal growth.
By the end of the camp, participants will have developed a strong sense of confidence, learned how to care for animals and nature, and discovered potential career pathways within the equine and agricultural industries. This holistic approach ensures students leave with not only enhanced equine knowledge but also life skills that will benefit them long-term.

- Session I: June 17 through July 10, 2024
- Session II; July 15 thru August 7th, 2024
- Potential Group Activities:
- Competitive horseback riding and other group activities.
- Ranch, Horse and other games and crafts.
- Gardening, Planting and harvesting.
- Group Wellness, Academic, and Career Exercises.
- Participants ages, targeted demographic, and Safety Protocols:
- Ages 5-17.
- Local communities, including Compton and adjacent.
- Parents/Guardians complete applications and waivers
- Fees: Students Fees: The Standard Summer Camp Fee is $275/week. Scholarships will be available based on income and financial status. We encourage all families to apply.
